The gospels tell us that Jesus gathered with his disciples for the Passover meal in a room in Jerusalem on the night before his crucifixion. Each year on Maundy Thursday, Hope Church commemorates this event with a worship service, known as the Love Feast. After we share a meal from the Seder tradition, we take communion and reflect on Christ’s betrayal and suffering on the cross. This service ends with darkness and silence.
This year the Love Fest will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 7:00PM. You need to place a reservation so that the Worship Committee will know how much food to provide. You will find the sign-up sheet in the narthex. Reservations will be accepted through Palm Sunday, March 29.
Although children are never excluded from worship at Hope, we will be providing a meal and child care for those children who are not yet attentive enough to sit through the service, which last about 2 hours.
There is no charge for this meal, but an offering will be taken to defray the expenses of the food and drink, a suggested donation of $7.00 per person.
We invite you to take part in this moving Holy Week service.
