Sunday, September 26, was a special day! Beginning with worship outdoors, we transitioned after the service to a “Fun Raiser – Equipping Hope for the Future”. The overall event was chaired by Victor Tarkeh and Dr. Doris Onyeaghala while Dr. Harry Onyeaghala and Dr. Flo Mbangowah chaired the onsite fund raiser. Mr. Nelson Balingwe and Rev. Gloria Yi were Masters of Ceremonies announcing the gifts. Not only did the event bring in $45,106 (at last count), but thanks to visiting member from the Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF) of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, a fledgling CMF chapter at Hope was founded. Another new group debuting were the Dextie Dancers, organized by Ms. Kelechi Onyeaghala. Even our own Christian Women’s Fellowship group recruited new members. The overall event combined music, dance, and food for a very fun time while exceeding the $25,000 fund raising goal.
Funds will be used to purchase a sound system, tables and chairs and other supplies for the new space under construction. The addition brings much needed space for children’s activities, modern ADA bathrooms, and expanded basement space.
Truly Hope Presbyterian Church is growing in spirit as well as space!
